Delegates of the 2006 Michigan Youth Leadership
Forum were divided into groups and assigned a male and a female mentor.
These young people were members of Randy's group he co mentored with Sherry
Gordon from the Michigan Commission for the Blind. |

One of the delegates' responsibilities was to
create a hand-made poster representing their group. The activity took place
early in the forum to serve as a team building activity...and it worked!
Students worked closely together on the project and in doing so, really
became acquainted with their new friends from around the state! |

In addition to mentors, volunteer speakers, and
MYLF sponsor partners, there were always nurses on site in case of
an emergency. Here Nurse Pat, Detroit delegate Preston Tinsley, and Nurse
Jo smile for the camera. |

Ensuring all goes well for the young people, YLF
Coordinator Bill Milzarski, Michigan Commission on Disability Concerns staff
(l) and Dan Vivian, Chairman of the Commisson's Board of Directors provide
an overview of what the delegates could expect from the Forum. |

A big part of the forum included the delegates
creating a plan of action to take what they learned back to their
communities to increase disability awareness. These two delegates work hard
on their individual plans. |

Taking a break from the forum's full schedule,
delegates enjoyed an evening at Oldsmobile Park to watch the Lansing Lugnuts
play in a minor league baseball game. |

Gordon, Western Region Assistant Supervisor of the Michigan Commission for
the Blind. Sherry and Randy volunteered along with the rest of the mentors
to spend the entire 5 days on campus of Michigan State University
to serve as YLF mentors. |
